DECA MGCI
Head of Operations
June 2018 - Present
VP of outreach
June 2017 - June 2018
I am an executive at DECA MGCI, a team which prepares emerging leaders and entrepreneurs for careers in marketing, finance, hospitality, and management in high schools around the globe.
I first joined the executive team in Grade 10 and is currently the Head of Operations at Marc Garneau CI. I love what I do at DECA MGCI. Every year at Regionals, Provincials, or Internationals, the enthusiasm that Marc Garneau CI bring to the event is astronomical. In addition, I have increased DECA MGCI's presence at Marc Garneau Collegiate Institute significantly. My training has helped two Grade 9s and multiple Grade 10s make it to ICDC, the International Careers Development Conference.
As a proud member of DECA MGCI, I demonstrate essential skills taught by DECA in my everyday life: leadership, communication and cooperation.

The Reckoner of MGCI is Toronto's best high school newspaper according to the Toronto Star, Toronto's premier publication. Averaging 5 to 6 print 8-page editions per year, the Reckoner provides unique, student-written content about the school and community.

My responsibilities on Outreach include fundraising, conducting Outreach activities, promoting The Reckoner and connecting with local businesses for funds.
In Grade 9, I was also chosen to be an Outreach Board Manager Apprentice, the only Grade 9 student to be selected as an apprentice up to that point in The Reckoner's history. As an Outreach Board Manager Apprentice, I was assigned different events to individual board members, communicated with other board members to schedule assignments and helped edit and form an edition of The Reckoner with other board apprentices. I was chosen again to be an apprentice in Grade 10 and 11.
As I felt more comfortable in expressing my opinion and voice on issues, I took the step to apply to The Reckoner's most prestigious board: Editorial. On this board, I was able to contribute to many articles on social issues within the school and outside. I also had the privilege to write my own articles during this time period.
MGCI Blossom
founder and president
September 2018 - Present

I am the founder and President of MGCI Blossom, a club dedicated to helping high school students learn skills and lessons essential for high school, university, and adult life. Blossom invites teachers, guest speakers, and students to present interactive workshops centred around enormously valuable skills such as setting goals, preparing a budget, cooking a healthy meal, and being involved in the community and elections.

I created this club because I was disappointed about the numerous number of high school students who enter College, University, or the workforce with concrete knowledge about skills that were not taught in high school. My goal for this club was to help students transition between secondary school and adulthood.
